The One

2018

This is 72% Chardonnay and 28% Pinot Noir. The grapes were whole cluster pressed and fermented cool. The wine was en tirage for 47 months before being disgorged. The wine has aromas of citrus and brioche; on the palate, there are flavours of lemon, pear and brioche. The mousse gives the wine a creamy texture; the finish is dry and refreshing.

Evident complexity on the bouquet offering toasty aromas, brioche, baked apple and wet stones. Fresh and lively, with a long finish.

2017

This traditional sparkling wine is incredibly elegant, complex, and hits all the quality markers on the back palate with a long generous length. Flaky buttery pastry, caramel apple, and butterscotch crème brulee flavours are superbly balanced with refreshing citrus zest acidity. Balanced, powerful and finessed. You can taste the pedigree of the winemaker here. It is truly exceptional. I was transported to Champagne, France!

77% Chardonnay / 23% Pinot Noir. The vintage has a higher percentage of Chardonnay – Clones 76 and 95 than the previous vintage. The Pinot Noir Clones are 114, 115 and 777. Whole-cluster pressed and cool fermented with Méthode traditionnelle and en tirage extended to 47 months. 12.1% Alcohol, pH 3.17, TA 7.5 g/L, RS 2.1 g/L. This is a Brut Nature champagne-style wine with < 3 gm/L residual sugar. A clear pale straw/lemon colour with a Brioche aroma and subtle flavours of green apple, Meyer lemon, and toasty notes. A generous texture on the palate with very good length and bubbles that go on forever! The Noble Ridge sparkling wines are very consistent year to year and “2017 The One” is no exception. This traditional sparkling wine is excellent value and was fantastic with seafood.

This is 77% Chardonnay and 23% Pinot Noir. The wine was en tirage for 47 months and that has given it classic aromas and flavours of brioche. On the crisp palate, there are notes of apple and citrus. The mousse is fine and persistent.

Noble Ridge continues to impress with the quality of the sparkling wines produced from its Okanagan Falls estate vineyard. A blend of chardonnay and pinot noir, this benefits from extended aging on the lees (the spent yeast cells left over after secondary fermentation) that impart rich nutty and bready aromas and flavours to the finished wine. Drink now to 2025.

I'm impressed by the journey of this label that has taken it from an okay sparkler to a top-flight fizz, spending an impressive 47 months on lees. Elegance and complexity are never easy to achieve, but The One has it, mixing 77 percent chardonnay with 23 percent pinot noir, all from the home vineyard. A nutty, buttery pastry aroma up front spreads across the palate and pushes deep into the finish. It has hint of oxidation but the citrus notes and high acidty are the perfect foil to balance it all. Another marker that point to a bright future for BC sparkling wine.

The pinot noir for the Pink One originates in the Okanagan Falls a year before the official recognition of the sub-appellation. This pale, toasty, relatively dry (1.4 g/L residual sugar) was en tirage for an impressive 27 months resulting in added body and a distinct brioche character. Lively with notes of cherry and cranberry lingering on the finish of good length.

2016

Lovely nose of sour cream and onion chips, crushed cashew and fresh milk. Very tasty with nice depth of concentration and good mid-palate richness. Lovely drop of sparkling.

2015

This is a notably fruity sparkler with ripe peach and honey amid the nutty and brioche aromas from ageing on its lees in the bottle. There is also a floral note. It is mid-weight, nicely firm and balanced but not austere, with just a hint of sweetness, crisp acidity and excellent length.

This is 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. The wine was 28 months en tirage. It is delicious, with notes of brioche on the nose and palate, along with subtle flavours of apple. The wine has two grams of residual sugar, just enough to support a generous texture on the palate.
