2018 McFarlane/Heard Chardonnay

Sir Bruce McFarlane and Dame Janice Heard have long been fans of great wine. Bruce has recently retired as a senior executive from the Alberta Oil and Gas sector and Janice continues to practice as a Pediatrician, specializing in the area of low income and disadvantaged families. Both are incredibly active in the charitable-giving world having made significant contributions to Queen’s University, Rosebud Theatre, CKUA and more. Bruce has been a long-time member of Calgary’s United Way Campaign recently serving as Chair of the Board. He now sits permanently on the United Way Calgary’s Indigenous Advisory Committee which is producing ground-breaking work on how our nations can work and live together. Bruce received the United Way Centraide Canada – Chairs Award of Distinction in 2019 and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Citizen Award in 2012. Janice has volunteered for over 15 years overseas in Laos with small, rural communities. While offering continuing medical education, Janice soon saw that support and assistance were needed on a much broader scale. Since then, “Princess Janice” as the children call her, has helped build schools, bring clean water to the classrooms as well as much needed school supplies, sports uniforms and even internet to some of these communities. In addition to numerous other awards in the pediatric field, Janice received the Order of the University of Calgary in 2016.
Along with a shared university history and mutual close friends, their love and appreciation for great wines, especially Burgundian wines, drew them to Noble Ridge. Since then, Bruce and Janice have been big supporters of Noble Ridge and have participated in many aspects of Noble Ridge’s life, ranging from working in the vineyard to helping flip pancakes at our Annual Stampede Breakfast
