Noble Wine Reviews

November 2023

Three of our Noble Series wines were  recently reviewed by wine writers within BC. See their thoughts below:

2022 Stony Knoll Chardonnay

Julian Park – 91 points. A dry light straw coloured Chardonnay. Aromas of Anjou pear and ripe apples. A light-bodied chardonnay with a rounded mouthfeel and medium acidity. Flavours of green apple, lime zest, a hint of butterscotch and Chablis-style minerality on the finish. Food Pairing – Shellfish, Paella, Cordon-Bleu Chicken and soft cheeses. (Oct. 2023)

John Schreiner – 91 points. The winemaking here was all about expressing the fruit. The wine was fermented in stainless steel and was not allowed to go through malolactic fermentation. The wine has aromas of apple and pear, which is echoed on the palate. The minerality gives the wine good texture. (Nov. 2023)

2022 Noble Series Rose

Julian Park – 90 points. Beautiful aromas of fresh rhubarb and wild strawberries. An easy-drinking dry Rosé with refreshing flavours of strawberry, Asian pear and dried herbs. The perfect patio sipper for those hot summer days! (Oct. 2023)

John Schreiner – 90 points. This delicately pink rosé is made with Merlot grapes that were given just two hours of skin contact. It has aromas of apple and rhubarb leading to flavours of strawberry and watermelon. The finish is crisp and refreshing. (Nov. 2023)

2020 Noble Series Meritage

Julian Park – 92 points. A wonderful bouquet of ripe blackberry and blackcurrant with dark chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied and creamy texture and fine-grain tannins. Flavours of blackberry, red plum and licorice with a hint of pepper in the long finish. (Oct. 23)

John Schreiner – 91 points. This wine is a blend of 81% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. The grapes were given a three-day cold soak, fermented warm and aged 12 months in barrel (75% French, 25% American – and 20% new). The wine has the graceful balance of the 2020 vintage. It has aromas of black currant, dark cherry and plum. These are echoed on the palate, along with notes of chocolate and cedar. The finish lingers
